post-surgery.

Just a quick update for the blog – I am feeling good after my gallbladder surgery!

Here I am right before:

Very thankful I wasn’t having continuous gallbladder attacks like others I’ve talked to. My last one was about two weeks ago. I did experience a bit of nausea earlier this week, which confirmed to me that going through the surgery after all was the best route! This summer I had a total of about five attacks, all progressively getting worse.

And I guess my mom took this covert shot after I came out from surgery:

We went in about 11:30am to get ready, surgery was around 1:30pm, and I woke up about 4:30pm. It was just like friends had told me. The last thing I remember before falling asleep was the anesthesiologist saying something about “happy juice,” lol. Another doctor [who’s in training] mentioned it’s like being drunk on a margarita. I then said “I’ve never been!”, and the original doctor was like “Oh, you’re one of those…” Hehe.

Then, the next thing I know I’m waking up with a nurse saying my name and asking if I’d like some ice chips. It was the craziest thing!

We stayed at the hospital until about 6:30pm because of some nausea and pain. Something I didn’t realize was the sore throat that comes because of the breathing tube they inserted. I have no recollection of this, except for pain in my throat. Also, they gave me time to just coming to my bearings, I think. So glad to have had my mama there! And the RN, Ruth, who mostly took care of us was wonderful.

Being there just for same-day surgery made me so grateful for my overall health. I can’t imagine going through even more surgeries because of severe illnesses. Praying for those who encounter this in their lives!

Anyway! Today I’m doing well. The incisions aren’t pretty, but not too painful – thankful for my meds! For the next few days, I’m planning on enjoying my time off and looking forward to what God has in store next!

Take care, friends!
